Based on the classic children’s story from Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden tells the story of Mary Lennox. When her parents pass away from the cholera epidemic in India, Mary is taken in by her reclusive uncle Archibald and his disabled son Colin. The gothic estate of his Yorkshire home bears the shadow of haunting loss, but as Mary explores her new home, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious and magical secret garden, long abandoned by Archibald in the wake of losing his wife. This play tells the heart-wrenching and beautiful tale of finding hope and renewal in the face of grief. With a score filled with haunting melodies and lovely themes by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon, The Secret Garden is sure to become a new favorite at CWTP.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the door prior to performances. (All online ticket orders will need to either be printed tickets or shown on a mobile device at the door of the performance.) Shows will not be canceled due to inclement weather. In most cases, refunds are not available.

Christ Wesleyan Church and CW Theatre do not retain any of the additional ticketing fees. All ticketing fees are paid directly to the ticketing company that manages our ticket sales.

At the Door

Tickets will be available at the door prior to performances unless sold out. On-campus ticket sales accept cash or checks, and credit cards. All credit card purchases have ticketing fees. We recommend arriving early to allow time to purchase tickets and getting to your seat. Doors open about 30 minutes before show time.

What is The Secret Garden: The Musical about?

The Secret Garden: The Musical is based on the children’s literary classic by the same name. It has been adapted for the stage, screen, and radio since it was first released in 1911.

The story is primarily about Mary Lennox, a young girl who loses her parents to the cholera epidemic in India. Without any immediate family, Mary is sent to live with her uncle Archibald Craven in Yorkshire, England. However, Archibald is reclusive and sequestered soul in the wake of losing his wife Lily to a tragic accident and the arrival of Mary reopens old wounds. Neglected, Mary explores her uncle’s estate and grounds, discovering a magical and hidden secret garden. This garden may hold the key to both Mary and Archibald finding hope and renewal in the face of their grief.

Is this show appropriate for all ages? Are there any content considerations I should be aware of?

“The Secret Garden: The Musical” begins with a sequence in which several people pass away from the cholera epidemic in India. Death is a consistent theme throughout the show. Some viewers may find these themes distressing or upsetting.

There is no language or references that would be considered objectionable for an audience of all ages.

Is handicap seating available?

Yes! Handicap tickets are available on our website. Please select the option for those tickets when prompted.

When you arrive on campus, please ask an usher or talk to a volunteer at our box office if you need any assistance.

Will there be tickets available at will call?

No, tickets will not be available at will call. We recommend that you order your tickets online before our show. Tickets can also be ordered over the phone, but will need to be sent electronically to your email address.
